Supercool Superpowered Shark Submarine

The Seabreacher X is an amazing boat/submarine/shark-thingy which has been dubbed the ultimate millionaire’s toy, and it’s not hard to see why.

Crashing at the bottom of a lake is something nobody would want to do. Seems like a good toy for a young and rich future CEO of a huge company, but it’s more likely to be a toy for the mid-life crisis gang who can afford it - that’s asking for trouble.ReplyWednesday 18 AugustBy AdamNeutral the way the job market is going at the moment Donson how else are we going to make the opportunities for promotion for the rest of us?Wednesday 18 AugustBy K.Neutral Only if I…

Anyway you slice it, doesn’t a 6 Blade razor feel excessive?

It has come to our attention that ShaveMate, in its efforts to break into a stubble market dominated by Schick and Gillette, has recently introduced the ShaveMate Titan 6, which has six blades. Six.

…We set out to find out why.

“It’s not just the blades,” says Lou Tomassetti who, along with his brother Peter, invented the Titan. “It’s really everything you need in one.” The Titan, he explains, also comes with shaving cream in the handle and a moisture strip.

“If you go out and try to buy equipment for shaving today,” Lou continues, “it’s very complicated.”

“You might have to buy batteries,” Peter adds.

“ShaveMate is really a lifestyle change” from all that, Lou says. “It’s a shaving revolution.”

Lou and Peter, it must be noted, call themselves the Inventor Brothers. In addition to razors, they specialize in a wide variety of horns, such as the Dog Horn Training Tool/Attack Deterrent.

But why stop at six? Why not eight? Why not go Spinal Tap, to 11? Why not invent a 49-blade mask that clips onto your face and vibrates the hair away? Why not cut to the chase already, Tomassetti brothers, and debut Titan 7?

“It’s funny you should say that,” says Lou, “but we think we hit the sweet spot.”

We…

Research In Motion Is Testing a Tablet

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion is testing a tablet that could act as a companion to its BlackBerry phone, says the Wall Street Journal. The BlackBerry

…HP is also working on a tablet computer called the HP Slate.
RIM hopes to introduce its tablet to complement its BlackBerry phones. The move evokes Palm’s failed experiment with the Foleo. In 2007, Palm announced the Foleo as a companion device to its Treo phone. The Foleo priced at $500 would sync wirelessly to Treo phones. But, after much criticism, Palm cancelled the device even before it could make it to retail shelves.
RIM’s tablet might be better received. A tablet could help RIM compete better with the latest generation of smartphones. Except for the BlackBerry Storm, RIM hasn’t released any smartphones with touchscreens. A tablet could help bridge the gap between its keyboard-focused phones and the fast growing market for touchscreen devices.

How the White House uses the iPad

The folks who gather early every morning in the West Wing office of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel have something new in common these days. Practically everyone has an iPad — or will have one very soon.

…Emanuel just got his, as did senior adviser David Axelrod and deputy press secretary Bill Burton. Both communications director Dan Pfeiffer and press wrangler Ben Finkenbinder have one on order. Economic adviser Larry Summers takes his to staff meetings.

The device is the hot, new White House toy, a gizmo that is popping up around Washington but seems to be particularly in vogue at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

But the big question is: What’s on your iPad? So we asked.

Summers has the Bloomberg app for financial information, says adviser Matt Vogel. Also Scrabble. And the first book he downloaded was a free copy of “The Federalist Papers,” Vogel says. (It turns out that “Tax Policy and the Economy,” Volume 4, by Lawrence H. Summers, isn’t available on Apple’s iBooks store.)

Burton, who has been a bit of an iPad evangelist at the White House, has the app for Vanity Fair magazine, Scrabble, a news app and the entire last season of ABC’s “Lost.”

“I was going to watch on our way to Indonesia,” he wrote a day…

Audi Designs Foosball Table, Redefines "Fine Motor Skills"

“We know what you’re thinking. I love me some foosball; if only the game were infused with a bit more… car.

…now a small batch is to be produced. Times change: let nobody say that a table soccer game doesn’t have to look good. After all, in professional soccer these days the ball is made from polyurethane, not leather.

What does the Audi Design soccer table feature apart from emotion-packed design? Of course “Vorsprung durch Technik”! The materials, workmanship and technical interpretation all satisfy the very highest standards. Aluminum and high-strength plastic fittings are added to the handcrafted wooden core. Also important: the table meets the high standards demanded in professional tournaments a unique combination of function and design. Only 20 of these tables will be built initially: an exclusive series costing 12,900 euros per table.

“It’s a attractive task to transfer our cars’ design language to other day-to-day articles, and the results are often surprising!” says Wolfgang Egger, Head of Audi Group Design. “The Audi Design soccer table features large-area, flowing surfaces and sharp, clearly defined…

Why Throw Out A Perfectly Good Obsolete Laptop? (pic)

…I did this with an old laptop except I removed the display from the hinges and bezel and put the keyboard in backwards behind it. I built a frame and mounted the display with a white cardboard border.
I have it set to run iTunes at start up and go into a picture rotating screen saver after two minutes. It’s a WiFi digital picture frame that plays music by using the remote app through an iphone, ipod touch or ipad.
I can pull out the wireless keyboard and mouse when I want to change something or RDP into it remotely.
I’m adding a microphone and a webcam to act as a Skype video conferencing station soon. I just have to rework the frame to include the camera….

The Truth About Recycling Your Gadgets

E-waste is the fastest growing category of trash and yet there is no one checking where recycled waste actually ends up. New labels are trying to answer, Are “recyclers” just shipping e-waste to the Third World?

…The e-Steward standard bans the export of electronics to the developing world unless the devices contain “functioning, working products that have been tested.” Recyclers who abide by the standards also must have stricter worker health and safety standards than R2, covering substances such as brominated fire retardants, and must require air monitoring and sampling for toxins, according to Sarah Westervelt of BAN.

Recyclers certified to R2’s standards do allow the the export of certain focus materials (FM), including mercury, lead in CRT glass, and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), as long as countries produce documentation accepting them. R2 discourages dumping or incinerating these materials, but e-Steward advocates point to a loophole in the language: “If circumstances beyond the control of the R2 recycler disrupt its normal management of an FM, it may consider these technologies to the extent allowed under applicable law.”

In contrast, the e-Steward standard completely prohibits landfilling and…
